About the Artist

I am a multi medium artist living in Hamilton, New Zealand.

Loving design I enjoy drawing, painting, sculpture and working with glass, china, and other interesting materials.

Starting work in The Art and Copy department at the Waikato Times I moved into commercial art and then with the birth of my daughter in 1990 started working from home. We moved to Western Australia and spent seven years there creating my butterflies and doing markets which led to my butterfly shop, Janine's Art for the Heart in Albany, WA. In 2000 we returned home and I continued with my butterflies and started painting on canvas too.

I had always wanted to learn stained glass and did some courses at Leadlight Products here in Hamilton where I was lucky to be taught by Di Tocker.

I ended up working there teaching leadlighting, copper foiling and mosaics.

I absolutely adore glass and more recently have embraced china. Pushing boundaries with waterproof Aquamox board and learning to create curved substrates have opened up a new world of possibilities for my outdoor garden art.

Inspired by nature and the beauty of our natural world, I love my job!

You can find my butterfly collections and books in the webstore.

My studio gallery is open by appointment.
